Saw this lovely clean example last night when I went out for staples (cigarettes, ice cream, an IPA, and milk):

I say this every time someone posts a MKIII: I’ll regret having sold mine until my last breath.

That design looks better with every passing year.

Where are the burning buildings and riotous mobs?

Yeah, it really has aged magnificently well.

Curiously I thought they were pretty ugly up until around 5 y ears ago. Then I saw the light.

I would throw a body kit on one in a heartbeat.

Eh those look too much like a Porsche wannabe.

Is it cool? Yes. Do I like it more than stock? No.

Never liked the stock MR2 Spyder, very bland styling wise.

I agree there, but it is looking better with every passing year. I thought it was at its worst when brand new. Especially since so many of them are boring colors.

When the MR2 Spyder came out, I was al ready an NB Miata owner. I went down to the local Toyota dealer to check one out. I was not impressed by anything in particular from my initial walk around. I spoke with the finance manager, who had once worked at our shop when he was in college. I ask ed him what he thought about the MR2 and how it drove, and he simply said “You’re much better off with what you have”. At that point my interest went from dim to extinguished. Not long after that, I remember se eing one with a widebody kit, hardtop and wing. I thought it look so much better like this, which rekindle some intere st in the little roadster. I don’t think I could own one without giving it some pop, the original styling still puts me to sleep.

Agreed. It looks like someone stretched an ill fitting car cover a little too tightly across a pre-production wood model and though, “that’s it, let’s just paint on some taillights and call it a day!” It just kind of feels like they forgot to finish it so they stole the front of a Mazda3 and styled the rear after a very bad picture of a Porsche Boxter. I don’t think it’s bad but only nostalgia will make it look good.

Same as me with my ‘91 CRX Si - should have figured out a way to hold on to it.
